Abstract

This contribution deals with sensor networking concepts, namely the IEEE 1451 smart transducer interface architecture. The paper reviews that approach from the viewpoint of connecting sensors to the Internet. The kernel of architecture for a distributed pressure measurement system, stressing both the intra-system and Internet connectivity issues. The next sessions discuss in more detail the IEEE 1451 smart transducer interface for sensors and actuators as an emerging, smart-based networking framework.
