AD converters are the key components in the data acquisition systems. Therefore their accuracy is very important for end users. Teaching and practical experiments of the testing methods are time consuming and requires precise laboratory equipment with the access for students. This paper presents measuring workplace with real circuits of the AD converter. Workplace will contain two AD converters one as subject of testing and second for assessment of its modalities. Workplace will be accessible students remotely through html protocol. Measuring stand is designed in the LabVIEW environment as...
It is shown that the current version of standards ISO 5725-1…6 includes insufficiently the main ideas of statistical thinking into its content. Moreover the necessary prerequisite of any measurement – stability of measurement process – looks like some kind of foreign body within the main frame of these standards. All these points are especially notable in the examples presented in the ISO 5725-6. Analysis shows that this part of 5725 standards does not respond to the basic requirement of any standard: to be an operational procedure for the best way of getting necessary results.
The aim of this paper is to present the Brazilian experience with metrology education at all academic levels. The principal projects devoted to the development of human resources in metrology and metrology-related areas will be considered. The main success experiences shown in this paper are the master's degree courses and technical courses in metrology, that along the years have been forming specialized human resources to supply the needs of Inmetro, Brazilian industries, metrological laboratories and Brazilian society.
The measurement tasks for industrial and nonindustrial applications over long periods are constant. The measurement solutions are changing with the applicable technologies. Currently the influence of innovative smart computers and cloud computing receives enormous proportions. Smart computers and cloud computing are also the enablers for innovative measurement education and training. Aim of the paper is to describe selected success stories of the so far unlimited innovative capabilities of smartphones with cloud computing for selected tasks in measurement engineering, education and training.
The great development of the Finite Element, the Volume Element and the Boundary Element Methods allows the solution of metrological problems with estimated uncertainties that are improving as far as experience is reached and methods are validated by experimental results. Consequently the uncertainty estimation in the numerical Finite Element Method is still an open object of debate. In the present work an iterative method based on Finite Element Method, developed by the IMGC-CNR in Turin and the University of Cassino, is applied to characterize the national primary standard for liquids from...
The present study it consists of a methodology developed in the Instituto Nacional de Metrologia, Normalização e Qualidade Industrial - INMETRO - (Pressure Laboratory -LAPRE) for the calibration of the vacuum sensors such as: capacitive diaphragm manometers, pirani, spinning rotor gauge and others. The used methodology is based on a program of calibration developed in the INMETRO/LAPRE having as principle the comparative method the transference standards. The method uses the analysis statistics as support. The calibration of these measurers in the LAPRE initiates the national metrologic...
The dielectric behaviour of a composite of lead magnesium niobate, lead titanate and lead magnesium tungstate ferroelectric, having different compositions, has been investigated as a function of pressure and temperature. This study reveals that this material can be used as a capacitive pressure gauge in the range 0.1 to 415 MPa to measure the pressure within full scale accuracy of /plusmn; 0.1% or better.
Primary metrological laboratories have been and are involved in the characterisation of vacuum gauges to be used as transfer gauges at various levels (comparisons or dissemination). In the present paper, some of the main characteristics of the most popular gauges in the whole pressure range from the atmosphere down to ultra-high vacuum are presented and discussed together with a short presentation of the primary standard systems available at IMGC- CNR.
Applicability of strain gauge measurements to the determination of Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio of pressure-measuring piston-cylinder assemblies is studied. The method is qualified by comparing the results of the strain gauge measurements with those obtained for the same tungsten carbide samples or materials using the resonance vibration and ultrasonic pulse-echo-superposition methods. The elastic constants of the pistons of two piston-cylinder units used at the PTB for the realisation of the pressure scale up to 1 GPa are determined.
The scope of this study is a review of the studies on the pressure transducers designed at the TÜBİTAK-UME by utilizing Finite Element Method (FEM) for stress and strain analysis to optimize the design parameters prior to the construction of the pressure transducer prototypes. The constructed and investigated pressure transducer, has a free hardened AISI 4340 steel active element. Hydraulic gauge pressure is applied to the inside and both open ends of this active element. The FEM analysis was conducted by investigating one half of the element in three dimensions and realized at three...
