The main cause of dynamic errors is due to limitation of sensor’s working frequency bandwidth. One way of solving this problem is designing an effective inverse filter. The method based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) integrated with Functional Link Artificial Neural Network (FLANN) for correcting dynamic characteristics of sensor is presented to reduce sensor’s dynamic error caused by its systems limitation. The feasibility of dynamic compensation method is tested, Simulation results from simulator of sensor show that the results after being compensated has given a good description to...
This paper widens our suggestions made in Busan. Here we suggest much more general plan of changes which - we think - are necessary for metrology to march with the times and not to become obsolete. Our suggestions refer to general basis of metrological standards and to their link with the main notions of statistical thinking introduced by such pillars of statistics as R. Fisher, W. Shewhart, E. Deming and G. Box.
Among industrial metrologists the analysis of measurement uncertainty is often considered a very difficult task and thus omitted. The process of determining measurement uncertainty is analysed from a practitioner’s perspective to identify the obstacles. Existing methods and tools for support are discussed to determine remaining needs for the development of assistance offers and derivate underlying causes for the slow implementation of measurement uncertainty analysis in industrial practice.
This paper describes characterization of the first psychrometer developed by Puslit Metrologi LIPI. The psychrometer is dedicated to operate at a temperature range of 25 °C to 65 °C and 15 %rh to 90 %rh. The highest temperature range is limited by the local traceability for dew point measurement. The work includes the determination of psychrometer coefficient and its characteristics due to effect of the wind velocity which is adjusted by applying voltage 12 V and 5 V to the fan. When 12 volt of voltage is applied, the psychrometer coefficient obtained by using Apjohn and Ferrel equations...
Monte Carlo method by simulation has been done to validate calibration of IPRT. The work is based on the Callendar van Dusen equation for 0 °C to 500 °C calibration range. How to derive the mathematics model for running the simulation is also described. Results are compared with results obtained by the propagation of uncertainty (GUM) which shows good agreement and coherent.
Nowadays the consumer society uses giant amount of energy in its everyday life. A huge part of this energy is used for travelling and traffic. Field of the research project presented in this paper is the energy harvesting with special focus to the energy retrieving systems of electrical vehicles. Effects of thermoelectric generators (TEG) to the driving range of electrical vehicles is analysed, as well as simulation results and a new calibration system for TEGs are introduced in the paper.
The paper deals with the ambiguity of the concept “measuring system”in the International Vocabulary of Metrology. Proposals are put forward to change the definition of this term. Taking into account these proposals, consideration is given to a specific character of intelligent multi-channel measuring systems, the distinguishing feature of which is the function of a metrological self-check. Multi-channel systems, that process measurement information coming from intelligent and data redundant sensor devices, have significant advantages in comparison with other intelligent systems. However,...
A tendency is noted that the metrology scope extends to the field of non-physical multidimensional quantities. Special features of forming the models for measuring such quantities are demonstrated. Examples are given including those related to measurements of the food quality, state of health, properties of social-and-cultural processes as well as expected emotional response of listeners to music.
The role of measurement in forensic science is discussed, with focus on the impact of measurement uncertainty in forensic decision-making. The need of properly modelling the measurement process and the benefit of expressing results in probabilistic terms are pointed out. The interpretation of probabilistic statements in decision-making is also discussed and the use of scales of degree of certainty is suggested. The benefit of a multi- and interdisciplinary approach is outlined, as well as the need of future research in this area.
A half model of the aerospace vehicle Sonda III is being tested at the Brazilian Pilot Transonic Wind Tunnel. The aim of the tests is to study the presence of shock and expansion waves in the inter-stage region of the vehicle. Special emphasis is placed on the nominal Mach number 0.90. Measured values are static pressure on the model surface and freestream total and static pressures. The estimated parameters are pressure coefficients and Mach number. Numerical analysis of the flow field parameters is done and compared to experimental results.
