PORTABLE X–RAY CT MINI SYSTEM BASED ON MONOLITHITIC SEMI-INSULATING GAAS DETECTORS USING PERSPECTIVE IMAGING RECONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES

The work describes the present status of development of the portable X–ray CT mini system. The system is capable to operate also as a quantum digital X–ray scanner. Detection unit is constructed from double line of 2 × 1024 SI GaAs pixel detectors with pitch of 250 µm. The system allows operation in the single photon counting regime and the energy separation (one energy window) with estimated spatial resolution higher than 125 µm. Developed modification of the X–ray image reconstruction based on perspective imaging techniques has been experimentally verified on testing phantoms and...

PROPOSAL OF IMAGING-TYPE 2-DIMENSINAL FOURIER SPECTROSCOPY

We proposed the imaging-type 2-D Fourier spectroscopy that is the phase-shift interferometry between the objective lights. The proposed method can measure the 2D spectral image at the limited depth. Because of the imaging optical system, the 2D spectral images can be measured in high spatial resolution. And in the depth direction, we can get the spectral distribution only in the focal plane. In this report, we mention about the principle of the proposed imaging-type 2-D Fourier spectroscopy.

COMBINED MEASUREMENT OF FLOW VELOCITY AND FILLING WITHIN FULLY ELECTROMAGNETIC FLOWMETER FOR OPEN CHANNELS

The paper presents practical aspects of the application of the least squares method as an algorithm for both flow velocity and filling measurements in the case of electromagnetic flowmeters for open channels. The method consists in fitting the flow signal with two waveforms that carry information about the measuring parameters. The basic drawbacks of the method caused by the necessity to perform numerical differentiation as well as by the differences between the signal components and the signal itself are presented together with the efforts to reduce them.

ESTIMATION OF RESIDUAL ERROR PARAMETERS FOR VECTOR NETWORK ANALYZERS

Recently, a novel approach for the estimation of the residual error parameters of a calibrated vector network analyzer has been proposed. The method is based on a reflection measurement employing a high precision airline terminated by a short. From this measurement the complex valued residual error parameters are calculated utilizing a sophisticated data analysis scheme. In this work the uncertainty associated with the obtained residual error parameters is evaluated. The uncertainty evaluation is performed by applying the GUM S1 approach employing a Monte-Carlo method. Resulting...

PORTABLE ANALYZER FOR IMPEDANCE SPECTROSCOPY

The paper presents an impedance analyzer designed for impedance spectroscopy of objects located in the field. The use of the specialized microsystem AD5933 was assumed. The analysis and tests of the microsystem in the configuration proposed by the manufacturer showed the limitations having meaningful influence on the impedance measurement accuracy. In order to eliminate disadvantages of the microsystem, a new solution using two AD5933 microsystems was proposed. This solution allows to measure impedance in a wide range of 100 Ω = | Z x |= 10 GΩ at measurement frequencies in the range of 0,01...

DEVELOPMENT OF REFRACTORY THICKNESS METER FOR TORPEDO LADLE CAR

To inspect the refractory of torpedo ladle car at high temperature is effective in expanding its service life and reducing its maintenance cost, preventing metal break out. As to metal impact area, the refractory thickness could not be inspected by thermal analysis of outer steel shell. The refractory thickness meter was installed at torpedo repair shop for evaluating its measurement stability and refractory thickness measurement accuracy. It has two surface profile maters using laser rangefinder equipped with two tilt stages, facing each other. It measures the inner refractory profile and...

A FLEXIBLE EXPERIMENTAL SET-UP FOR DEVELOPMENT OF SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC ANALYSERS OF FOOD

A spectrophotometric analyser of food (SAF) is a spectrophotometric instrument dedicated to measuring physical and/or chemical parameters characterizing a pre-defined class of chemical or biochemical substances which appear in food raw materials or products. It is usually composed of a spectrophotometric transducer and a digital processor. The latter is transforming raw measurement data, provided by the transducer, into the final result of measurement, i.e. estimates of concentrations of selected compounds of the analysed sample. Thus, the R&D works related to SAFs require tools for...

REAL-TIME DYNAMIC ERROR COMPENSATION OF ACCELEROMETERS BY DIGITAL FILTERING

The output signal of an accelerometer typically contains dynamic errors when a broadband acceleration is applied. In order to retrieve the applied acceleration, post-processing of the accelerometer's output signal is required. To this end, we propose the application of a digital filter. We describe the construction of an appropriate filter and consider the uncertainty associated with the filtered output signal. Explicit formulae can be employed to calculate both, the filtered output signal and its associated uncertainty, in real-time. We illustrate the need and benefit of the proposed...

UNCERTAINTY EVALUATION OF DYNAMIC MEASUREMENTS IN LINE WITH THE GUM

We consider the task of uncertainty evaluation in the context of dynamic measurements. We assume that the relation between the time-dependent value of the measurand and the available output signal of an employed sensor is governed by a linear time-invariant system. Estimation of the measurand is done by applying a digital filter to the sensor's output signal. We propose a method for uncertainty evaluation which is in line with the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM). The method accounts for dynamic errors due to non-perfect compensation of the dynamic behavior of the...
