FUNDAMENTAL MEASUREMENT FOR FUNCTIONAL CAREGIVING IN REHABILITATION MEDICINE

The purpose of this research was to develop an objective, linear measure of mothers' confidence to care for children assisted with medical technology in their homes. Three technologies were addressed, namely, trachesotomy, tracheostomy and ventilator, and BiPAP/CPAP. All mothers ( N = 53) were from Chicago, USA and primary caregivers for children assisted with medical technologies. The theoretical construct for this research is Functional Caregiving (FC) and survey methods were guided by a caregiver content matrix validated by content and clinical reviews. Field testing with target mothers...

NON-CONTACT, SHORT DISTANCE MEASURING SYSTEM FOR WIDE APPLICATIONS

A low-cost, accurate, non-contact, short distance measuring system is described in the paper. It includes a standard infrared light source, infrared light-to-frequency converter and specially designed for such applications the Universal Sensors and Transducers Interface (USTI) integrated circuit. In comparison with existing solutions, the designed measuring system has extended distance measuring range from 5 to 200 mm, 0.01 mm resolution, ±0.02 mm absolute error and a short conversion time that does not exceed 26.35 ms. Performance improvements are achieved due to a novel, precision modified...

RESEARCH ON INTERDEPENDENCY OF IC VARIABLES

Analysis test (parameter analysis) is very important in measurement and test of IC parameters. The key to solve analysis test problems is how to find out optimal characteristic variable group. In this paper, the mathematical model and application method of choosing characteristic variable group are described with the obtained experimental results. It provides the interrelation of IC variables and their effects on the device operating state.

STUDY OF CERTIFIED REFERENCE MATERIAL PREPARATION TECHNIQUE FOR MICROELECTRONIC DIGITAL CIRCUITS

This paper introduces an alternative method to traditional certified reference material (CRM) preparation technique for microelectronic digital circuits. Instead of self-manufacturing chips, a novel preparation technique is introduced which selects matured samples as the CRMs, these samples are also called certified reference samples (CRSs). The use of CRS not only greatly reduces the difficulties of preparation, but also brings microelectronic CRM preparation technique to a new domain. Finally, the preparation contents and methods, the preparation processes, as well as the maintenance,...

DEVELOPMENT OF AN AUTOMATIC CALIBRATION SYSTEM FOR CLINICAL ELECTRICAL THERMOMETERS

An automatic test system for clinical electrical thermometers was developed to enhance the efficiency of error tests. Besides the temperature measurement unit, mechanical drive and machine vision units were designed to implement automatic tests. An uncertainty analysis was also presented. According to the special measurement action of clinical thermometers, the Monte Carlo method was used to evaluate the uncertainty. The accuracy of recognition of indications was greater than 99% in experiments.

NEURAL NETWORK BASED CORRECTION OF INFRARED THERMAL IMAGER FOR SHORT DISTANCE MEASUREMENT

Based on the formula of image radiation, the influence of distance on the temperature measurement accuracy using IR thermal imager is analyzed in theory. Then an algorithm for correction based on neural network is proposed. The error caused by the difference between measuring distance and calibration distance is reduced.

DESIGN OF THE PROTOTYPE OF PLD AUTO TEST PLATFORM

There're mainly two different situations for testing PLD (Programmable Logic Device) devices. One is testing of blank chips that haven't been programmed; the other is testing of ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) devices that have been programmed. This paper presents a test method for programmed ASIC devices, including auto test and ATPG (Auto Test Pattern Generation) method for both known and unknown logics of programmed ASIC devices.

MOBILE ROBOT LOCALIZATION FROM LANDMARK BEARINGS

Mobile robots need their position in the workspace. A standard GPS will allow an absolute positioning of the robot in the field, but the position accuracy is not enough to perform unmanned field task. This paper proposes a system for robot localization based on landmark bearings measured by the robot. Since the equipment setup is very simple our proposed technique would be useful for real-world robotic applications such as lawnmowers. Some results are presented to show the performance of the proposed technique.

REMOTE CONTROL OF ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES VIA POWER LINE 230 V

The presented work deals with problems of data transfer via power line 230 V for the purposes of remote control electrical appliances. The devices providing relative communication via power line for a one-family house were designed and assembled. The designed devices, namely the input-output unit, PC interface and the GSM gate, work on a bus principle. The bus is constructed by power line 230 V. The designed devices are composed of the AVR microcontrollers and their mutual communication via power line is provided by TDA5051AT modem. Communication protocol, with which the devices work, was...

INDUSTRIAL TURBIDIMETERS WITH AUTOMATIC CLEANING OF MEASURING CELLS

The main problem in operation of industrial turbidimeters is buildup of parasitic deposits on transparent windows of light sources and photodetectors. Two different ways of solving the problem of noise-immune measurements of turbidity are discussed. The first way consists in realization of so called turbidimeters with variable gauge length. Another way lays in the field of use of photosensor arrays and image processing. In both cases presence of an automatic cleaning system is necessary.
