A UV radiation source based on the integrating sphere has been developed by means of theoretical calculation and computer simulation. The radiation source can meet the requirements of intensity and uniformity in the calibration of ultraviolet irradiance meters. By monitoring the intensity changes of the radiation source itself during the measurement, its stability can be recorded and corrected, thereby reducing the measurement error introduced by UV radiation source itself.

The measured total luminous flux of a linear-shape lamp by using an integrating sphere can be deviated from accurate by the presence of a baffle in the sphere. For the lamp with co-axial alignment, the measured flux decreased when the baffle was longer. But with perpendicular alignment, the trend was opposite. When the baffle was further away from the detector, the measured flux decreased. These were due to the interplay of the non-uniform regions the baffle induced in the sphere.

The roundness measurement of boreholes with diameters less than 500 microns is a challenge that cannot be addressed with conventional metrology such as tactile measurement. This paper presents a setup for semi-automated positioning and roundness measurement of boreholes with diameters down to 160 microns using fiber-optical probes and low-coherence interferometry. The results contribute to sophisticated nozzle design and testing of final parts such as common-rail diesel injection nozzles.

In the present paper an optical scheme of compact two-element spectrometer for detection of fluorescence spectra is presented. It consists of a concave holographic grating and a spherical projection mirror. The working spectral range is 500-1000 nm and the spectral resolution reaches 0.91 nm. The scheme is extremely compact and has F/# equal to 2.4.The design procedure is described in details with special emphasis on stray light suppression. The developed scheme can be used in a small-sized affordable diagnostic device, which is of a special interest for cancer diagnostics.

The developed photoreceiver modules (PRM) for two-frequency laser radiation at wavelengths in the range of 0.6328 to 0.4416 µm are presented. The discussed PRMs were created as per the results of theoretical calculations and experimental studies of the structure oscillations of cavity resonator depending on geometry of the concentrators.

This paper describes a photometric stereo system for the measurement of surface topography. The system provides versatile experimental possibilities due to movable multicolor LEDs, movable camera, and a traveling (xy-) table for the sample. We introduce our measurement setup and present analysis of its performance. Our topography maps correlate well with the contact profilometry reference map, and reveal different details of the surfaces depending on the illumination wavelength and pixel size.

An apparatus for determining the spectral response of large area solar cells based on filter method has been introduced. Both of filter method and monochromator method have been used to measure the spectral response of different kinds of solar cells. The measurement result of monochromator method only represents the spectral characteristics of a certain part, while the measurement result of filter method is more suitable to describe the spectral response of the whole cell.

Fiber optic power responsivity scale at 1625 nm is newly established to support optical fiber communication industry. Using the absolute scale at reference level of -10 dBm and the linearity measurements, a fiber optic power meter is calibrated at 1625 nm from -60 dBm to 0 dBm. The uncertainty is less than 0.7 % ( k = 2) at -10 dBm and about 1 % in the full range.
