The article presents the influence of comparison process automatization of mass standards and weights on measuring uncertainty while determining mass of standards and weights. Based on tests of selected types of manual and automatic mass comparators of the same metrological characteristics featuring the same capacity and readability, instrument’s repeatability has been determined, which have considerable contribution in the measuring uncertainty budget during calibrating mass standards and weights. The measurements have been carried out in the same ambient conditions, characteristic to...
This paper presents the results of an interlaboratory comparison in torque with cross force measurement among fifteen participating laboratories in Thailand. This is the first time for setting torque type interlaboratory comparison. The comparison was carried out between July 12th, 2010 and November 5th, 2010. The program was piloted and referenced by the National Institute of Metrology (Thailand), NIMT. The comparison was made as a star form, in which the artifacts were sent back to the pilot laboratory (to measure) after every measurement conducted by the participating laboratories. This...
An interlaboratory comparison, for the calibration of static uniaxial testing machines was organized in Turkey by TUBITAK UME Force Laboratory as the reference laboratory in 2009 to 2010. 14 different calibration laboratories located in Turkey which provide force calibration for static uniaxial material testing machines have been participated to this interlaboratory comparison. Each laboratory calibrated to force of the static uniaxial material testing machine by using EN ISO 7500-1 standard. In interlaboratory comparison, it was requested to measure 3 different ranges: 100 kN in compression...
This article is focused on the utilisation of force, specifically the impulse of force in self-defence. It also points out the fact that this field suffers from a great shortage of specialised measurements and experiments. This results in the general public, professionals and authorities active in criminal proceeding shaving distorted views. Further, the article describes the research focused on the impulse of force of a straight punch. The article consists of the description of the actual experiment, individual elements and equipment employed together with the analysis of the results. The...
The density of air was directly measured by using a Pt-Ir kilogram and a stainless steel kilogram weight as buoyancy artefacts (BAs) in a comparator equipped with an automatic weight exchanger capable of handling four weights. The other two stainless steel weights loaded on the same weight exchanger were compared with the prototype kilogram by using the air density measured in situ. The in situ BA method determined the mass values with less uncertainty than the CIPM equation method.
In APMF2011, we introduced a simple way by building a two-layer insulation chamber with two mass comparators inside to have small temperature variation in our laboratory. In this paper, we will introduce a economic method by adding a simple active control unit on the aluminum chamber to control the temperature inside the chamber at (20 ± 0.1) °C nearly, while the room temperature of the air-conditioning laboratory is active controlled at (21.5 ± 1.5) °C. Using this method, the transient phenomenon of temperature was observed.
Ring method offers simple yet effective hydrometer calibration method with comparable performance to other hydrometer calibration methods. This work reports a ring method experimental setup for calibrating hydrometers. It uses a suitable dimension of ring to sink hydrometers in standard liquid which traceable to solid density determined by hydrostatic weighing method. The surface tension of the standard liquid density was measured by tensiometer consists of balance and Wilhelmy plate. The calibration results shown that, the range has been expanded from 0.600 g/ml up to 1.000 g/ml with...
Electromechanical analysis and simulation of traction systems are required to estimate the power consumption and the best optimization for energy saving. The number of variables and parameters (mechanical and electrical) is huge and they are deemed by a high degree of uncertainty. The sensitivity of the mechanical equations to the track and train parameters is considered, as well as the spread of the output variables.
This paper describes the differences of R50-1 between the 3CD-2010 version and 1997E version. Gives the analysis on disagreement contents in the new version, and then talks about the influence of the new version to the manufactures and the Institutes in the future.
High-precision torque sensor is usually used to measure torque standard machine by comparison, Torque sensor will be affected moment disturbance in the measuring process. This will affect the result of torque standard machine measurement. Flexible connections are widely used to reduce the moment interference. Compensation method by using hardware circuit can suppress the interference output of torque sensor and also get high-precision measurement result to the torque standard machine.
