This paper introduces hardware/software hybrid simulation of wireless instrumentation systems as a part of their lifecycle. It presents a state of art of simulators which are close to our hw/sw multiagent simulator, the MultiAgent Hardware Software simulator (MASH) and a discussion about our experience in the use of this tool.
We present in this paper a multiagent approach to manage communication in wireless instrumentation system. Our solution is based on a structure emergence process. It is applied in the context of the EnvSys project which aims the instrumentation of an underground river system.
In this work we propose an approach to prioritizing order of transmission of sensed data in wireless sensor network that are very popular in, for example, environmental monitoring. The approach is based on determination of a consensus relation which is in "nearest distance" from all initial rankings shaped by multiple sensors of each network node. Statistically and probabilistically based analytical models useful for assuring network performance and providing reasonable number values n – k and m are proposed and discussed, where n – k is a number of packets transmitted to the sink; n is a...
For a complex autonomous robotic system such as a humanoid robot, the learning-based state prediction is considered effective to develop the body and environment model autonomously. In this paper we investigate a model of changes detection directly included in the evaluation process of the learning algorithm. The model is characterized by a function called confidence, which returns a high value if the robot’s actual state data match the predicted state data. The robot then creates the confidence map for each sensor based on the prediction error, which allows the robot to notice if the...
In this paper we present the operation results of a portable computer-based measurement equipment conceived to perform non-destructive testing of suspicious termite infestations. Its signal processing module is based in the Spectral Kurtosis (SK), whose pattern allows the targeting of alarms and activity signals. The estimator of the SK is proven previously using a set of synthetics. SK enhances the non-Gaussian behavior of termite signals, giving rise to a sensitivity improvement. As a complementary tool, wavelets confirm non-Gaussian behavior of termite emissions by keeping the...
To describe a problem of a parametric spectral analyze of a time series fluctuation price process on a stock market. It is used difference-linear equation like the model of the initial data. It’s has been obtained stable results of estimation parameters by stochastic smoothing.
The research shows as the deep lack of knowledge by low voltage and domestic customers is made the most by the producers/suppliers to impose their will disappointing the ISO 9000 certification. A new way to build the relationships between these actors is suggested with the declared aim to formulate new type of agreement based on the quality of electrical energy appropriately measured.
In engineering system control, human beings can play various key roles in particular concerning measurement, global assessment and decision. It is recognised that in such complex systems many involved variables are evaluated with uncertainty. In this paper, we used a possibility theory based approach to formalise all the different uncertain pieces of information. An applicative example concerning the safety assessment of dams is presented.
The general problem is wide and extensively treated in the literature. The paper intends to limit the discussion from the viewpoint of the metrologist to some aspects of the problems related to the concept of "true value", abandoned by GUM but still present in other international reference documents, and about the use of nonquantitative information or of prior knowledge in connection with the uncertainty evaluation in measurement.
This paper compares two alternative averaging methods commonly adopted to estimate measurand values, in agreement with the guidelines of the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM). According to the proposed analysis, validated in a simple case study, the choice of best estimation method should depend not only on the amount of nonlinearity of the measurement model, but also on the amount of definitional and acquisition uncertainty of the input measurands.
