Laboratory measurements are an integral part of process and quality management. Quite commonly, variables measured are statistically dependent and thus measurement of one variable is an indirect measurement of the others. Also, measurements are uncertain and thus there always is uncertainty about the quality. In this paper we formulate the optimal measurement scheduling problem of laboratory measurements. In particular, the objective is to minimize a weighted sum of measurement costs and uncertainty about whether the product confirms with given quality constraints or not. This problem is...
Indications of the crisis in the conventional methods of metrological assurance of sensors are analyzed. The analogy between biological and technical evolutions is discussed. It is shown that the near future is mass production of intelligent sensors and systems with metrological selfcheck, as well as the transition to a new stage in evolution of metrological assurance of sensors.
Brachytherapy, using radioactive iodine seeds, is a very important and efficient process of cancer treatment. These seeds are small sealed tubes of titanium, 4,50mm long, with the radioactive material inside. The amount of radiation to be imparted on a tumor has to be precisely evaluated, so any calculation process is welcome, beside the normative ones. In this work it is shown a numerical method to compute the exposure rate in the vicinity of the seed, and the results are compared with analytical calculations, in order to make a preliminary evaluation of the method.
The paper presents a fast impedance spectroscopy method for objects with very high impedance |Zx| = 1 GO modeled by multi-element two-terminal RC networks. The method is based on analysis of the object response in the time domain after square pulse excitation. The object impedance spectrum was obtained using continuous Fourier transform. Simulation tests were performed for different excitation pulse widths. Measurements in the realized system proved the usefulness of the method for parametric identification of equivalent circuits of the objects.
This paper presents the methodology and some of the results of mathematical modelling of human brain in magnetic field tomography (MFT) by which sources of tiny bioelectric currents in the brain are located by measuring the magnetic field distribution produced by these current outside the head.
Aerodynamic balances are employed in wind tunnels to estimate the forces and moments acting on the model under test. This paper proposes a methodology for the assessment of uncertainty in the calibration of an internal multi-component aerodynamic balance. In order to obtain a suitable model to provide aerodynamic loads from the balance sensor responses, a calibration is performed prior to the tests by applying known weights to the balance. A multivariate polynomial fitting by the least squares method is used to interpolate the calibration data points. The uncertainties of both the applied...
It may be the figure of the human handwriting as one of the most interesting outputs. By research on the figure of handwriting, characteristics or behaviors of the human are analyzed and cleared. The purpose of this paper is to report results on the comparison of data (the characteristics data by this measurement method) and the evaluation given by pattern differences of handwriting capital letters: B and D; U and V having constructive similarities. By using the divergence as one of statistics method, figures drawn by the dominant or non-dominant hand of examinees who are selected 40 persons...
This paper describes the system to take traffic lines of pedestrian flows outdoors and the investigation of dynamic characteristics by using the density, direction and velocity distribution of them. These characteristics express the congestion and latent dangerousness of field. Also the arrangement of structures and public facilities will be evaluated.
Human Computer Interaction studies of visual attention in dynamic 3D computer gameplay can be greatly facilitated by automated gaze object logging implemented by integration of eye gaze tracking systems with game engines. This verification study reports the spatial and temporal accuracy of such an integrated system.
Gaze shifts pose serious problems to the human visual system, causing transient spatial distortions. We simulate these distortions by assuming an undersampling of spatial information. We propose that such process helps maintaining stable space representations across sensors shifts, a strategy that may be useful also for wireless sensor networks.
