Since 1971, he has been working with the Electrotechnical Institute (now Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the Polytechnic of Bari) as a Researcher; from 1973, as an Assistant Professor; from 1982, as an Associate Professor; and from 1985, as a Full Professor. He was Head of the Electrical and Electronic Department and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. Currently, he is Honorary Chairman of the TC-4 technical committee of IMEKO. Mr. Savino is also Member of the IEEE, of the Italian Electrotechnical and Electronic Society (A.E.I.), and of the Italian Association “Electrical and Electronic Measurements Group” (GMEE). He carried out an intense scienti c activity, as proven by more than 200 publications, many of them in international journals. He headed researches in the following elds: 1) automatic instrumentation and measurement methods, 2) measurements on electrical and electronic circuits, 3) electrooptical measurements and optical sensors, and 4) digital signal processing. His activities are focused not only on researches in the eld of general metrology but also on coordination of national and international researches on modeling and testing of digital instrumentation and of A/D and D/A conversion channels; development of automatic methods for diagnosis of environment and of electrical and electronic systems, devoted to accident prevention; and development of arti cial vision systems for quality control of surfaces and renewable energy monitoring systems.
