Determination of Trichothecenes and Zearalenone in Wheat and Derived Products by LC-MS/MS: Development of a Standard Method Within the Cen Mandate M/520

Results obtained within a project under the European Commission standardization mandate M520/EN (item 4) are herein presented. Aim of the project was to develop and validate an analytical method for the simultaneous determination of nivalenol, deoxynivalenol and its acetyl derivatives, T-2 and HT-2 toxins, and zearalenone in cereals and cereal products by liquid chromatography - tandem mass spectrometry. The standardized method shall be applied to perform official control of the above food products, and to determine whether a production batch can be put on the market.

Method Validation by Means of the Accuracy Profile: a Realistic Approach for Routine Chemical Laboratories

This paper describes the advantages and applications of a method validation approach based on the construction of an accuracy profile. This is currently employed by the laboratory of Trace Metals and Minerals of the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES). The main analytical performance characteristics obtained for a selection of analytes by means of an in-house developed and validated multi-element ICP-MS method are presented. A brief comparison of the uncertainty calculated by using the GUM recommendations and by ANSES approach is also provided.

Instantaneous frequency estimation of distorted sinusoidal signal by “quasi” repetitive approach

In this paper a control scheme based on a "quasi" repetitive controller is proposed for asymptotic tracking of the instantaneous frequency of distorted sinusoidal signals. The resonant frequency of the repetitive controller is tuned by using an adaptive orthogonal signals generator based on a second-order generalized integrator. Experimental results are performed to highlight the characteristics and performances of the proposed method, in comparison with other existing approaches.

CT based analysis of reworked BGA devices

The widespread use of computed tomography in the electronic field allows for an extended range of measurements to be carried out. High integration devices can be tested easily with µCT, and provide large amount of data to characterize the technology parameters. This paper focuses on the inspection of BGA solder ball geometry and quantification of different properties of the solder arrays.

The Experimental Studies to Improve the Measurements Synchronization Accuracy in the 10 kV Feeder at Zero Crossing by Calculated Compensation of Phase Shift of Voltage

The article research a low-cost method for synchronization of measurements in distribution networks in terms of a mains’ voltage signal zero crossing. In order to improve the accuracy of synchronization it is suggested compensating for the phase shift of voltage in the network nodes using the algorithmic technique relative to the power supply voltage. It calculates the network mode for the positive sequence of the fundamental harmonic to compute the phase shifts. The experimental field studies have been performed with the operating municipal 10 kV feeder and twelve 10/0.4 kV step-down...

Standardized Software Solution for an Automated Data Evaluation in Analytical Measurement

To reduce the high degree of manual operation and processing time as well as human errors the automation in chemical analysis has become important in the last years. As a result a fast and automated data evaluation is required to overcome the high amount of measurement data. To enable the integration of various analytical devices with different device software a standardized solution without any programming knowledge should be preferred. Additionally the data evaluation should be accessible via any computer or mobile device within the laboratory network. The presented software called Project...

Range-Only Underwater Target Localization: Error Characterization

Locating a target from range measurements using only one mobile transducer has been increased over the last years. This method allows us to reduce the high costs of deployment and maintenance of traditional fixed systems on the seafloor such as Long Baseline. The range-only single-beacon is one of the new architectures developed using the new capabilities of modern acoustic underwater modems, which can be time synchronization, time stamp, and range measurements. This document presents a method to estimate the sources of error in this type of architecture so as to obtain a mathematical model...

Interoperable Data Management and Instrument Control Architecture for Ocean Observing Systems

The complexity of marine installations for the ocean observing systems has grown significantly in recent years. In a network consisting of tens, hundreds or thousands of marine instruments, manual configuration and integration becomes very challenging. Simplifying the integration process in existing or newly established observing systems would have benefit system operators and is important for the broader application of different sensors. This article presents an approach for the automatic configuration and integration of sensors into an interoperable Sensor Web infrastructure. First, the...

Influence of the capacitor’s dielectric absorption on the dual slope ADC

Paper deals with the influence of parasitic parameters representing the dielectric absorption of a real capacitor. Dielectric absorption causes nonlinearity of the transfer characteristic of dual slope analog to digital converters. Theoretical analysis and simulation results determine more precisely the requirements on the utilised components.
