In order to calibrate ATE (automatic test equipment) effectively and accurately, in this paper, a calibration strategy design approach based on dependency matrix for ATE is developed. According to the characteristics of information flow and logic relations which the trace chain of ATE included, the dependency matrix is derived to present the causal relationship between out-of-tolerance conclusion and calibration. Two weights are respectively defined using dependency matrix to select calibrations for detection and location of out-oftolerance conclusion. Calibration strategy tree is used for...

The aim of this paper is to develop a methodology for measuring the magnetic field distribution around the prefabricated secondary substations in vibrated reinforced concrete, as well as the definition of a methodology to determining the maximum value of magnetic induction produced by the substations in correspondence to nominal current of the transformer. As proposed has been developed in conformity with laws and standards and can be applied to active and passive secondary substations. The experimental validation of the proposed methodology, carried out by a measurements campaign whose...

The aim of this paper is to propose an adequate design of coupling circuit for narrowband powerline channel (PLC) characterization for frequencies lower than 500 kHz. This interface filters 50/60Hz mains signal while avoiding damages of measurement equipment and/or any connected analog front end for PLC signal transmission. An experimental characterization setup is also described. Simulated and experimental results for different load conditions are performed for transmission and reception direction showing a small attenuation less than 1 dB for load impedances higher than 10 %Omega;.

Ensuring a high level of information reliability is one of the most important tasks of the synthesis of digital transmitting systems for various applications. In this paper it is suggested to use the code tag-based encoders and decoders (codecs) with distributors on multidrop delay lines (MDL) for improving the reliability of the information digital transmitting systems with QAM/COFDMmodulated signal; the benefits of the principle of self-synchronization while substantially reducing the guard interval in the structure of the transmitted signals are described; a possibility of excluding the...

This paper deals with the classification and parameter estimation of frequency-shift-keying (FSK) signals that are acquired using a compressive sampling approach. Such a technique allows reducing the sampling frequency needs, as the FSK signals are compressible in the frequency domain; the spectrum of FSK signal is sparse, being concentrated to a finite number of harmonics which depend on the modulation order. The classification and parameter estimation rely on the first-order cyclostationarity. The proposed method has been implemented in GNU Octave, and validated in simulation.

The paper deals with the performances of rainfall energy harvesting by means of piezoelectric transducers. Different studies agree on the level of suitable generated voltage on the electrodes of a piezoelectric transducer subjected to rainfall, but a complete characterization on the supplied power is still missing. This work, in order to limit optimistic forecasts, takes into account the behaviour of the transducers subjected to real and artificial rainfall, condition that has shown promising behaviour in laboratory. In order to increase the energy harvesting and define its limits different...

The paper presents definitions and characteristics of the sensors and transducers used in electrical measurement of mechanical quantities, with emphasis on related energetical and informational processes that conjointly take place within them. Various aspects of the energy information conversions are attentively treated, constituting, together with several improved representations, a significant contribution to understand the electrical measurements. Finally, an original application is described: a multicomponent strain gauged balance illustrating the complexity of information transducer...

In the latest years, policies toward the diffusion of electric vehicles received a lot of attention in many countries. Important efforts of researchers and engineers are focused on the development of high performance quick charging stations, that allow a significant reduction of charging time without negative effects on the battery systems. In this paper a suitable automatic test system is proposed. It makes possible the experimental characterization in realistic conditions of a quick charging system complying with CHAdeMO [1] protocol. In the paper test system features are described and...

Sensor systems and smart networks devoted to environmental supervision have today assisted the analysis of primal processes and they have also provided vital hazard early warnings. At the same time the use of environmental energy is now rising up as a potential energy source dedicated to embedded and wireless computing systems where manual recharging and/or replacement of hundreds or even thousands of batteries on a regular basis is not practical. This paper presents and illustrates SENNO (SENsor NOde), a multi-parametric sensor node that intelligently manages energy transfer for perpetual...

In this paper we propose the application of a piecewise affine virtual sensor for the estimation of the motor-side current of hybrid stepper motors, which actuate the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) collimators at CERN. The estimation is performed starting from measurements of the current in the driver, which is connected to the motor by a 720 m long cable. Measured current is therefore affected by noise and ringing phenomena. The proposed method does not require a model of the cable, since it is only based on measured data. A circuit architecture suitable for FPGA implementation has been...
