THE DIFFRAXICON-INTERFEROMETER FOR CYLINDER TESTS

The shape measurement of technical cylinder mantle surfaces requires special measures to obtain a spatially low frequency interferogram indicating the shape deviations from an ideal cylinder surface. For this purpose the use of diffraxicons is proposed and demonstrated. The surface roughness is sufficiently eliminated by grazing incidence interferometry for high quality surfaces becoming more and more essential for high accuracy applications as e.g. in the nanotechnology and modern lithography.

3D SURFACE INSPECTION WITH A DMD BASED SENSOR

In this paper a method for non-contact scanning of small structures is presented similar to that of confocal microscopy but using the technology of Digital Micromirror Devices (DMD) instead of ordinary pinholes. It offers parallel scanning of various specimen following to a principle, where a DMD is used for illumination and a selective CCD for detection. The fundamental concepts concerning system layout and system performance as well as measurement results with a first experimental demonstrator are presented.

SURFACE FLATNESS CONTROL IN SINGLE PLATE LAPPING

Flatness of an active surface of the lap has an essential influence on the shape accuracy of lapped surfaces. Profile wear of the tool is not uniform along the radius because of the kinematics of lapping process. Changing the kinematic parameters, e.g. rotational velocity of the lap or position of the conditioning rings together with the workpieces can be used for correcting the profile of an active surface of the lap or for obtaining required convexity or concavity. This paper presents results of a study into the influence of conditioning rings positioning on the wear of the lap as well as...

DEVELOPMENT OF “SMART” OPTO-ELECTRO-MECHANICAL SYSTEMS BASED ON “TRANSPARENT METALS”

This paper deals with the the investigation of novel application for an optical material based on a photonic band gap structure realized by using several periods of suitable metals and dielectric couples. The optical properties of these new materials, have been largely studied by the authors showing the possibility of obtaining high trasmittance levels in given wavelength windows even with large thickness of metals. In this paper these new material, named “transparent metals”, are used in smart opto-electro-mechanical structures such to obtain both novel devices with electrically...

ENERGY-INFORMATION METHOD OF ANALYSIS AND SYNTHESIS OF SENSITIVE ELEMENTS

Indicators consumption increase both in quantity and in nomenclature needs an acceleration of production rate owing to automation of design process. The problem is that a description of various physical processes on which the principle of indicators action is based, is being carried out with the use of physico-mathematical apparatus appropriate to this class of phenomena. It hampers the design process automation, increases new indicators development time and their cost. The article considers a united system approach in the field of sensitive elements theory, invariant to the physical nature...

TRAINING CONCEPT FOR COORDINATE MEASUREMENT

Coordinate measurement must be executed considering objective comprehensive criteria, in order to ensure the comparability of the results of measurement. A profound education of the personnel responsible for the measurement as well as standardized procedures are necessary prerequisites. The aim is to supply an established device neutral training concept for coordinate metrology as well as procedural statements for the support of the analysis, planning and execution of measurements and analyses of the data. Thus the comparability and the correctness of measurement results will be increased.

MASTER COURSE IN ENERGY MANAGEMENT FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

The adaptation of the curricula at German Universities to the Anglo American standards like Bachelor of Sciences and Master of Engineering is the most ambitious political goals of the ministers for higher education of the federal countries in Germany. This new frame work for higher education increases the opportunities for the Universities of Applied Sciences for more application oriented education and research work, and also enables the graduates of their Master courses for the continuing PhD. studies e.g. in field of measurement and Control Engineering and energy management in the...

USER INTERFACE OF MEASURING INSTRUMENTS ON ENGINEERING EDUCATION

According to the high performance and digitalization of measuring instruments, the construction of operation panel has become more simple. On educational viewpoint, this causes the degraducation of the efficiency of instrument operation and that learning. This paper shows the consideration of subjects concerning to user interface of the operation of measuring instruments and describes the potential possibility of operation panel in the virtual measurement system supported by personal computers. Especially, the viewpoint focuses on the navigation function on a virtual operation panel, which...

TO PROBLEM OF MAGNETIC NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING

Many high quality Hall-type magnetic field sensors of advanced technology are customary available. We have experienced the use of Hall type sensors in non-destructive testing of material volume reduction due to corrosion and abrasion of iron tubes of different diameters as used for the heat exchangers, and gas pipelines. Some results achieved by using a prototype assembly are presented. This consisted of a mechanical sensor moving support and a PC based measurement set for data recording and processing. Data gained are interpreted from the diagnosis point of view as the loss of ferromagnetic...

AUTOMATED MEASUREMENT LABORATORY ACCESSED BY INTERNET

The Automated Measurement Laboratory implements the newest methods of open and distance learning in engineering. The information Internet servers are extended by laboratory servers, that allow complete experiments on the 4 automated measurement centres - interconnected locally by GPIB and integrated with National Instruments LabView 5.1 TM (by the built-in Web Server) in virtual instrumentation configurations with Internet access. Real-time monitoring and control is accomplished by web pages, accessing the web-site of the “Virtual Laboratory” – by built-in MS - FrontPage TM WebBot components...
