SIMULTANEOUS QUANTIFICATION OF IONIC SOLUTIONS BY RAMAN SPECTROMETRY AND CHEMOMETRIC ANALYSIS

Thomas H. Kauffmann, Marc D. Fontana
Abstract:
We report on the detection by Raman spectrometry of several pollutants dissolved in water such as nitrates, sulfates or chlorides. Unlike current water probes often based on conductivity our Raman probe measures simultaneously the concentration of each species in a few seconds only. We show how chemometrics methods based on statistical analysis like the principal components analysis and the partial least square regression can be applied for the spectra treatment.
