Header How to Effect Orifice meter in Natural Gas Flow Measurement

The header is typical disturb of natural gas transport station. Natural gas flow measurement is mostly by orifice meter in the nation. Mostly orifice standard doesn’t act the header as "typical disturb", they only act it as "other disturb", so it needed pipeline length is longer than the standard prescriptive pipeline length. This paper introduces the orifice meter in different place which is installed after header in natural gas flow measurement and analyses, so can get the first conclusion, so can help the man who measure by orifice meter in the gas station.

Testing System of Servo Valve Flow Characteristics

Electro-hydraulic servo valve widely used in servo system is one key component translated electronic signal to hydraulic signal. The servo valve capability influences the character of servo system directly. Flow characteristic is one important performance index judging servo valve capability. To master their characteristic, must do many experiments. Virtual instrument technology is adopted in one testing system of Servo Valve Flow Characteristic; soft measure method can test steady-state flow and instantaneous dynamic flow; all test data can be on-line processing, storage and printed....

A DSP Based Signal Processing System of Vortex Flowmeters

The IIR wavelet filter banks are adopted to decompose the sensor output signal of vortex flowmeters in order to extract the flow information from the vortex signal with noise in this paper. A digital signal processing system with a digital signal processor (DSP) is developed to realize the wavelet transform and frequency measurement algorithms in real time. The experimental results show that the method and system are effective for vortex flowmeters.

A New Multi-phase Flow Calibration Facility and Its Uncertainty Analysis

A new multi-phase flow calibration facility was built at the CIM campus to calibrate single-phase or multi-phase flowmeters of 10 mm to 50 mm in diameter. The flow rate ranges under calibration are 0.08 ~ 50 m³/h for water, 2 ~ 120 m³/h for air and 0.3 ~ 15 m³/h for oil, respectively. The calibration methods are static volumetric method for water and bell prover method for air. To ensure the reliability of the system, some standard flowmeters are added to the pipelines of each phase of media. The design and construction of the system have been discussed in detail. The uncertainty for the...

Application of Electrical Impedance Tomography in Pulp Flow Measurement

Electrical impedance tomography is an imaging method that can profile the resistivity distribution within a domain using a non-invasive sensor. It is a promising method for multiphase flow measurement. This paper describes an EIT system for monitoring the consistency, air bubbles and velocity in pulp flow.

Experience in Field Tuning and Operation of a Multiphase Meter Based on Neural Net Characterization of Flow Conditions

The paper presents measurements taken with a multiphase flow meter based on neural net methodology at the National Engineering Laboratory and Institute Francais Petrole multiphase test loops and an offshore smart satellite production platform operated by Sarawak Shell Berhad Malaysia. The paper also contains a review of the state of the art of multiphase metering technology and an appraisal of potential sources of error inherent in different technologies. The method provides the basis of a multiphase flow meter which can be used under a wide range of operating conditions in oil and gas...

Concentration Measurement of Oil-Water Two-Phase Flow in Electrical Capacitance Tomography System

Concentration is one of the most important parameters in oil-water two-phase flow, and it is of great significance to get on an accurate measurement for concentration in the course of production and engineering control. Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) technique, which can calculate the space distribution of dielectric constants in the inner of objects by measuring EC values between electrodes around the surface of objects, is being mainly applied to detect multiphase flows in industrial pipelines. And the technique also can offer visual information that conventional instruments can...

Characterization of OilWater Two Phase Flow Based on Complexity Theory

The flow patterns of oil/water two-phase flow in vertical upward pipe have been characterized by the analysis of LZ Complexity. Fluctuation Complexity and Spectrum Entropy measures using the conductance time series fluctuating signals. It is shown that all the three complexity measures have little changes with oil-in-water flow pattern variations for water cut ranging from 61 % to 91 % and show irregular sudden changes to transitional flow pattern variations. We conclude that the three complexity measures are potential sensitive 'indicators' of flow pattern transition.

Transit Time Ultrasonic Modelling in Gas/Liquid Intermittent Flow using Slug Existence Conditions and Void Fraction Analysis

In this paper, the performance of the clamp-on transit time ultrasonic flowmeter is experimentally investigated in two-phase gas/liquid flow in straight pipes. Experiments on air-water horizontal slug flows in a 50 mm id pipe were conducted over operating conditions covering 0.3-4.0 m/s and 0.6-3.0 m/s gas and liquid superficial velocity ranges, respectively. The mathematical model presented in this paper is an improvement on the previous closure method which was developed by Al-Lababidi & Sanderson. The algorithm of the new mathematical model is based on both the analysis of the slug...
