This paper presents new method of modeling of the thermal influences on the Coordinate Measuring Machine kinematic system. The model is based on the residual kinematic errors distributions that are determined for different temperature ranges. It can be used in simulative methods of uncertainty determination in order to make them more sensitive on temperature changes. The example of utilization of such a model and the verification of its proper functioning were also presented.
Having successfully completed two EURAMMET Key Comparisons (EUROMET Project No. 384 and Project 812) with very good results led us as TUBITAK UME Dimensional Laboratory to organize the first interlaboratory comparison on calibration of diameter standards in Turkey as a pilot laboratory during 2012 and 2013. Interlaboratory comparisons are one of the best ways to disseminate SI units within the country, thus assuring the reliability and quality of calibrations and their results for accredited/non-accredited laboratories. The main purpose of the comparison is to demonstrate the differences...
The popularisation and wider application of the additive manufacturing (AM) has increased quality requirements for this manufacturing process. Reduction of the size and form deviations of manufactured workpieces is one part of quality improvement. In-line optical surface measuring system is considered as the approach for solving the task. Layerwise powder bed surface measurements during the selective laser sintering (SLS) process are aimed to overview each sintered layer (contour of the workpiece) and measure its dimensions. This paper describes the development and practical implementation...
The performance tests described in ISO 10360series are too complicated to be executed in high frequency. The simplified test on the scale errors and the angular errors is proposed. In this article, the simplified artefacts with some balls are located at some different locations on CMM and are measured by CMM. The results are compared in the difference of the artefacts and the locations. In the comparison, the uncertainties of the performance test are considered.
The surface roughness of machined parts is a criterion as important in terms of the quality of a product as is geometrical sizes and their tolerance. The quality of a machining process can be characterized by the measurement of the machined surface. During the manufacturing process the aim is to achive as small surface rougness as possible and to produce quite homogeneous surface. Changing the cutting parameters, the raw material, the parameters of the cutting tool in the course of fine turning process it can be determined the optimum conditions with the help of Taguchi methods. In this...
This paper presents a method and procedure for characterizing the metrological structural resolution (MSR) of CT systems. The method is based on the frequency response analysis on sinusoidal surfaces. The procedure involves performing evaluations with multiple voxel sizes. To test the method, a comparative evaluation of two CT measuring systems was performed. The results demonstrate the potential of the proposal for assessing the metrological structural resolution of CT systems.
Computed tomography for dimensional metrology has been introduced in quality control loop for about a decade. Due to the complex measurement-error cause system, usually no consistent uncertainty reporting has been made. Modular test parts have been developed and used to investigate some influence factors intrinsic to CT-based data and their effects on checking features of size. The experimental planning and the most significant findings are outlined and discussed in this paper.
The research reported in this paper is related to the ultra-wide-band radar technology that may be employed in care services for elderly people. Four methods, based on singular value decomposition of matrices, designed for extraction of useful signals from clutter-corrupted data, acquired by means of an ultra-wide-band radar sensor, have been compared. The uncertainty of estimation of echo parameters, performed using the extracted signals, has been used as the criterion of comparison.
In order to quantitatively measure the degree of pain during mammography, we used a visual analog scale (VAS) and a device for quantitative analysis of perception and pain and performed regression analysis of the relationship between pain degree and VAS score. Twenty-four subjects underwent a typical mammogram and we found no correlation between pain degree using the device compared with VAS scoring.
An EMFi sensor based measurement system for monitoring of respiration and heart rates of an infant is developed in this study. The EMFi sensor is located in the crib between the mattress and sheet and the infant is sleeping on top of the sensor. The EMFi sensor was found to be functional especially in the measurement of respiration rate. The measurement system developed in this study is unobtrusive and comfortable for the infant and no wire attachments are needed.
