GEOMETRICAL DEVIATIONS MEASUREMENT UNCERTAINTY ESTIMATION USING RANDOM FUNCTION

Workpiece geometrical deviations have essential influence for quality of apparatus. Geometrical deviations of apparatus mechanical components have accuracy level better as 1 µm. For apparatus mechanical parts are used widely limits for flatness, cylindricity and position. By measurements of them shall be taken account additionally factors like autocorrelation between measurement points and influence factors variation over measurement area. Last can be described as random function which gives ground for the model of measurement and uncertainty estimation.

SELF-CALIBRATION FOR OPTICAL PATH LENGTH OF 3D NANOPROFILER CONSIDERING RANDOM ERROR

In 3D nanoprofiler we develop, the optical path length is the largest uncertainty factor. As a method for self-calibration of the optical path length, we propose a method of utilizing a known optical path length shift. Results of simulation considering the random error, the accuracy was found to be dependent on 3 parameters. Similar characteristics is confirmed by experiment. Optical path length has been determined by the order of under four digits.

COMBINED USE OF TOTAL STATION AND ARTICULATED ARM COORDINATE MEASURING MACHINE ON LARGE SCALE METROLOGY APPLICATIONS

The potential use of an hybrid system that combines a Total Station and an Articulated Arm CMM by utilizing a commonly-used industrial accessory, the hidden point bar tool, is examined. The analysis is focused on the formulation of the mathematical model that allows the interconnection of the two systems, the development of a traceable methodology frame and the transformation of data in a common reference system. The approach is experimentally verified on a typical industrial large scale component that is manufactured on the premises of Hellenic Shipyards S.A.

EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS OF POSITIONING THE TURBINE AND THE GEARBOX USING STRAIN GAUGE

In this work, the positioning the turbine and the gearbox has been investigated. The standard methods of position measurement were at the limit of measurability so the measurement of relative position of the turbine and the gearbox was based on the measurement of shaft deformation respectively shaft bending moment using standard 120 Ohm strain gauge.

INVESTIGATION CMM MEASUREMENT PARAMETERS EFFECT TO THE MEASUREMENT ERROR

High measurement accuracy with optimum measurement procedure is a significant requirement in advanced fields of interchangeable manufacturing and precision engineering. This study presents optimum parameter selection for lowest measurement error. Moreover a mathematical model was obtained to predict measurement error according to the selected measurement parameters. The proposed prognostic model provided a well-suited method and gave promising results in predicting measurement errors by monitoring the parameters such as optimum probed point numbers, probing speed, probe radius and...

NUMERICAL MEASUREMENT UNCERTAINTY DETERMINATION FOR COMPUTED TOMOGRAHPY IN DIMENSIONAL METROLOGY

In Computed Tomography (CT) in dimensional metrology, the numerous complex measurement process steps with various influences present a significant impact on the measurement results. For the determination of measurement uncertainty, it is therefore important to consider all of these influences. The paper discusses the possibilities of a promising approach, the numerical uncertainty determination for CT in dimensional metrology.

VIRTUAL CMM MODEL ADAPTED FOR USAGE IN INDUSTRIAL CONDITIONS

Due to the rigorous requirements for implementation of the virtual models of CMMs they are usually used in the renowned calibration laboratories. This paper presents the novel methodology of implementing the virtual CMM model that is capable of correct uncertainty determination for measurements done in less stable industrial conditions. The verification results were also presented under varying ambient conditions. They prove the correctness of proposed methodology.
