The architecture of a miniaturized impedance analyser with wireless communication module for remote Impedance Spectroscopy (IS) of anticorrosion coatings on difficult-to-reach objects (e.g. on the steel construction of the bridge) is described in this paper. Some practical aspects of implementation of a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) are also discussed. A low scale, middle range, WSN network composed of a Base Station (BS) with a Personal Computer (PC) and nodes with impedance analysers fit with Atmel ZigBee modules was simulated in MATLAB. Effectiveness of different routing protocols in an...
A new solution of the smart resistance sensor with the Two-Center Basis Function (TCBF) neural classifier, for which the resistance sensor is a component of an anti-aliasing filter of an ADC is proposed. The temperature measurement procedure is based on excitation of the filter by square impulses, sampling time response of the filter and processing measured voltage values by the TCBF classifier. All steps of the measurement procedure can be realized by the microcontroller and its internal devices.

This paper shows the basic grounds for meter calibration services of magnetic flux density at low frequency, made available by the Instituto Nacional de Metrologia, Qualidade e Tecnologia (National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology) – Inmetro / Brazil.
This paper describes the PCI Applicative structure and functionality developed by Eletrobras Eletronorte aiming at the management, control, operation and maintenance of the energy measurements, performed by the main calibration laboratories in Brazil, in the highest standard values of accuracy and precision. It also briefly describes the evolution stages of the Brazilian Energy Interlaboratory Comparison Program, nationally known as PCI. The main modules of the PCI Applicative are also described in a way that allows a comprehensive and interactive concept of the dynamics of the...
The paper is aimed at experimentally analyzing the different DAC glitch definitions and measurement methods proposed in literature and adopted by manufacturers. Unfortunately, in fact, there is no universally accepted and unambiguous definition of a glitch. Therefore, the presented research work can give contributions and ideas for discussions focused to solve this problem and develop a new standard dealing with DAC terminology and test methods. An experimental analysis has been carried out and the obtained results have been critically analyzed to provide possible indications for the...
Inductance is realized at Spanish Centre of Metrology (CEM) by means of a modified coaxial Maxwell- Wien bridge. A study of the unequalized currents in the whole bridge network was carefully carried out in order to check their effect on the system’s accuracy. Previously, stability and thermal coefficient of different kind of inductors have been evaluated to select those with the lowest temperature coefficient and best short-term stability to be employed in this evaluation.
Japan Electric Meters Inspection Corporation (JEMIC) is a Designated Institute of power and energy standards in Japan. All the energy meters for electricity trading in Japan are traceable to the National Standard in JEMIC. In industrial world, power is supplied by various voltage and current. However, the energy standard has been calibrated at 110 V and 100 V, for 5 A. Therefore, it is often used in combine with the instrument transformer. This paper describes the effect of composite error of instrument transformers to uncertainty evaluation of energy meters.
Reference materials (RMs) are extremely useful in testing and benchmarking instrumentation. In this paper, a kind of IC RMs based on nine parameters is developed. It describes what parameters should be chosen as properties of IC RMs, and presents the circuit structure of RMs in detail. With these programmable parameters of IC RMs, ATE can be traced to national standards.
The paper presents the analysis of a secure transmission channel between nodes in the distributed measurement system. Its security is discussed, using the position-based scheme, where each node is authenticated based on its geographical position. To decrease the threat of the adversary disguising as the authorized node and eavesdropping the transmission, the quantum cryptography scheme is used. The paper presents the modifications and practical implementation issues of such a communication scheme in the distributed measurement system. Time measurement accuracy and clock synchronization are...
Little is known about a sensitivity of MEMS gyroscopes to a power supply fluctuation and how to measure these effects. This information can be helpful to improve a performance of sensors, which is crucial especially for an inertial navigation. The paper is focused on the zero rate drift and the behavior of a build-in temperature sensor. These properties are analyzed for MEMS gyroscopes of various brands with different output configurations. The method of our measurement and underlying problems are described. Finally, results of the experiment are discussed and suitable models are suggested.
