Short Biography

Bo GAO received her PhD degree in cryogenics at CAS in 2009. After postdoctoral work at the Tsinghua University, she went back to TIPC-CAS in 2011. She is the Deputy Director of the TIPC-LNE Joint Laboratory on Cryogenic Metrology Sciences and Technology. She is the chief scientist for Research on international primary thermometry in low temperature, under the Chinese National Key Technologies R&D Program. Bo is also an invited expert on the Consultative Committee for the Thermometry Working Group for Contact Thermometry.

Her current research mainly focuses on the primary thermometry in the low temperature range. She has developed a novel ‘single pressure refractive index gas thermometry’ method. The implementation of this new primary thermometry method will provide the source in China for thermodynamic temperatures in the low temperature range. Before this she worked at LNE-Cnam in France when the group was determining the Boltzmann constant using acoustic thermometry.

Besides receiving the György Striker Junior Paper Award, she has been selected “Outstanding early career women scientist in Asia” by The Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia.
