ASSESSMENT OF THE SENSORS LIFETIME ON THE BASIS OF TEST RESULTS

New design-experiment method for forecasting and assessing the sensor reliability on the basis of processing the results of accelerated tests of the production prototypes is considered. The suggested method was developed on the ground of [1-3] and was tested when analyzing the sensor reliability.

PROBLEMS OF DEVELOPING A NEW GENERATION OF INTELLIGENT SENSORS

Modern technological processes require industrial sensors of non-electric quantities, that are distinguished by the highest survivability, increased lifetime and reliability of measuring information. It is shown that intelligent sensors can meet these requirements. Terminological aspects in this field are considered. The main directions for developing a new generation of intelligent sensors are shown.

MATHEMATICAL METHODS APPLICATION IN METROLOGICAL ASSURANCE OF SPECIAL MEASUREMENT INSTRUMENTS AND INFORMATION MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS

The paper addresses the problem of metrological assurance for information measurement systems (IMS) where the conventional approach based on testing, calibration and verification can’t be always applied. Metrological diagnostic check (MDC) is regarded as a basic instrument for metrological assurance of such IMS. The paper outlines a general approach for mathematical support of MDC at different stages of it’s realization: IMS building, IMS certification and IMS usa.ge

DEVELOPING THE ACCELERATED TESTS FOR ELABORATION OF THE MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY OF HIGH-RELIABLE IPRTS

Metrological assurance of sensors embedded in the equipment and intended for long use in industrial automated systems is an important problem. In this paper attention is attracted to the importance of the experimental accelerated tests of the sensors, which should be based on the analysis of physical and chemical processes in the sensor as main sources of the sensor instability. The purpose of the tests is to elaborate the manufacturing technology of high-reliable sensors. The principles of developing the plan of the tests were suggested and an illustration was given on the widely used sensors - platinum resistance thermometers.

FAILURE DIAGNOSIS USING THE CHI-SQUARE SHEWHART CHART AND THE ART NEURAL NETWORK IN NAVIGATION SYSTEMS

A failure diagnosis scheme using the chi-square Shewhart chart and the ART neural network is presented for navigation systems. After a failure is detected ART neural network is applied to determine when the failure happens, how serious the failure is and where the failure is located. The application of the proposed scheme to the problem of the Global Positioning System (GPS) integrity monitoring is discussed.

MODEL BASED AUTODIAGNOSTICS OF SEMICONDUCTOR COMPOUNDS SYNTHESIS AND POLICRYSTALLIZATION PROCESS

The process of synthesis and polycrystallization of InP is performed in hermetic welded quartz ampoule placed in the two zone furnace. The temperature of synthesis and crystallization zone is up to 1100°C. The pressure of phosphorus vapor inside the ampoule results from the temperature of low temperature zone which rises up to 570°C and can reach 3.0 MPa. Because of high pressure of the vapor inside the ampoule it should be compensated by pressure of neutral gas outside the ampoule and thus the whole furnace should be located in the autoclave. The measurements of temperature distribution and pressure of the reactor during multi-step process are in industrial conditions practical unfeasible. To avoid implosion or explosion of the ampoule the autodiagnostics is applied. The autodiagnostics makes use of the process reference model based on the indirect measurements of measurable state variables.

DIGITAL FAULT LOCATION ESTIMATOR FOR POWER LINES BASED ON WALSH FUNCTIONS

Distance relays must estimate accurately and quickly the distance to the fault even in presence of highly distorted input signals. Several digital filtering algorithms for distance relays have been proposed and some of them are used in practical applications. However nonlinear loads are becoming more and more common in electric power systems and that increases the corruption level of signals. For this reason, the study of digital filtering techniques for the extraction of fundamental components from highly corrupt voltage and current waveforms is of vital importance for the development of algorithms applied to the digital protection of transmission lines. The studied technique proposed in this paper is based on Walsh functions.

TWO-MODE FREQUENCY STABILIZATION OF AN INTERNAL MIRR NM He-Ne LASER

A Commercial He-Ne laser was stabilized to about 1 × 10-9 for a two hour measurements and a frequency resettability of about 8.4 × 10-9 for three months of measurements. The stabilization process depends on the two-mode frequency method using the power difference between the two orthogonal linearly polarized modes of the laser as an error signal. A simple and inexpensive feedback circuit has been used to control the heater current, wrapped around the laser cavity to keep the difference in power between the two modes at constant value.

MEASUREMENT UNCERTAINTY ANALYSIS OF CROATIAN RESISTANCE STANDARDS

The primary electromagnetic laboratory in Croatia maintains resistance standards from 1 mΩ to 100 MΩ. The three of these standards (1 Ω, 10 kΩ and 10 MΩ) are calibrated each two years at PTB, Germany. The traceability of other resistance standards is accomplished by two standard resistance comparison methods using digital voltmeters. This paper gives the measurement uncertainty analysis of the Croatian resistance standards.

IMPROVED TEMPERATURE CONTROL SYSTEM OF SECONDARY VOLTAGE STANDARD BASED ON WESTON STANDARD CELLS

There is considered the thermistor implementation in the automatic temperature control system of secondary voltage standard of Ukraine. High sensitivity and resistance of thermistor allows decreasing the self-heating of the sensor to the negligible quantity. The significant drift of the thermistors is proposed to correct by its testing and calibration using reference RTD in the same system. The intercalibration time is proposed to increase by using thermistor’s conversion characteristics prediction methodology based on artificial neural networks. There is described the general structure of proposed automatic temperature control system and evaluated its error.
