The Application for the Electromagnetic Flowmeter with High-Frequency Magnetic Excitation in the Pulp Measurement
The electromagnetic flowmeters have been substituted for the traditional differential pressure type flowmeters step by step in paper industry. The electromagnetic flowmeter is currently a unique instrument for the pulp flow measurement. This paper describes in brief the measuring principle of the electromagnetic flowmeters with different modes of magnetic excitation, stresses the application, analysis and resolvent for the mode of the high-frequency magnetic excitation, and analyzes the problem occurred for the selection of the flowmeters in the pulp measurement.
Electromagnetic Inductive Flow Pattern Reconstruction by Means of Spectrum Expanding
In the recent years, the theory of electromagnetic flow meters is being developed to describe more complicated problems in the measurement such as multiphase flow and flow reconstruction. This paper focuses on a method for the reconstruction of flow patterns in two-dimension domain by electromagnetic flow induction. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation are completed based on the idea of flow pattern reconstruction by means of electromagnetic flow induction. Main concepts of the theory and reconstruction methods are summarized. A spectrum expanding method is used for flow pattern...

Optimising the Performance of Battery Electromagnetic Flow Meters. A Case Study in Meter Specification and Performance
The aim of this paper is to review both the performance and the advances made over the last four years in the operation of buried battery electromagnetic water flowmeters installed within a distribution network. The authors will review the original design criteria and installation decisions in the light of subsequent experience, highlighting the obvious and not so obvious lessons learned. They will, then, outline some of the methods used to assess the condition of the buried meters in-situ and illustrate the very real changes in performance which have been achieved through optimisation of...
Electromagnetic Insertion Probe Calibration. Advances Towards A Standard
The aim of this paper is to illustrate the methods and equipment which have been developed to better characterise and accurately calibrate insertion electromagnetic probes. The authors consider the historic development of the electromagnetic probe and the difficulties which calibration of a point velocity device brings. They will illustrate the difference between designs and will outline the problems which have to be overcome before such devices can be used with much increased confidence. Development of a transfer standard technique will be described and the way in which Traceability to SI...
Advances in On-Site Verification of Water Flow Meters. The Intelligent Application of Electromagnetic Insertion Probes
The aim of this paper is to present recent advances which have been made in applying electromagnetic insertion probes to the verification of bulk supply water flowmeters. Building on laboratory work undertaken to define the baseline calibration of this type of insertion probe the authors illustrate how Traceability. Performance and Productivity have been dramatically improved through the use of intelligent software. Key elements that are discussed relate to the increasing demands of Water Industry Regulators for the introduction of Quality Management principles at the Site and Data level and...
Verification for Electromagnetic Flowmeters: Its current state and its potential
The validity of the claims made for currently available verification devices are reviewed. The theoretical requirements to achieve the verification measurements are suggested and the validity of the approach assessed accordingly. Likely achievable uncertainties are considered. There is a brief discussion of the administration of the verification procedure by users. Successful verification strategies will be dependent on the quality of the manufactured product and the necessary good housekeeping within the manufacturing company. The authors conclude by suggesting that the current concept is...
A Study of Differential Pressure Measurement in Vortex Flowmeter
Vortex flowmeter based on pieazoelectric transducer is subjected to noise disturbances caused by pipe vibrations and fluid turbulence during measurement. According to the characteristics of the fluid field near the bluff body, the method using differential pressure between two sides of the bluff body to measure vortex frequency is presented in the paper. Numerical simulations have been carried out to help the optimally sensor structure design. The experimental results show that this method is effective to measure vortex frequency and has robustness to disturbances.
An Approximate Mathematical Model of Ultrasonic Wave Modulated by Von Karman Vortex Street in a Liquid Fluid
It is known that both phase and amplitude of an ultrasonic wave passing through Von Karman vortex street perpendicular on the bluff body axis, are modulated. Modulation is result of natural fluid flow in the Von Karman vortex street, absorption and dispersion of ultrasonic wave. This paper is intended to present influence of vortex shedding on the amplitude modulation of ultrasonic wave which is caused by movement of vortices in vortex street. Mathematical model of the amplitude modulation of ultrasonic wave in Von Karman street and influence of ultrasonic wave absorption in vortices on the...
