NOVEL APPROACH ON OPTICAL ANALYSIS AND MULTICHANNEL SORTING OF GRAIN SAMPLES

This paper deals with entire automation of Besatz analysis of grain samples. Thereby a declaration of its mandatory relevance by laboratory request is given and research in image processing by a colour line scan camera as well as development of sorting principle and construction is explained in detail. It is concluded in statement of results and further investigations.

NEW TOOLS FOR TRAINING THE SKILLS OF STUDENTS IN THE PROCESS OF THE ACADEMISATION IN THE EDUCATION OF ENGINEERING DEGREES: A TESTIMONY WITH APPLICATION TO METROLOGY FROM THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC CONGO

The academisation process of the engineering degrees in ISTA (Kinshasa, DR Congo), is reported. The focus is laid to the training of skills of the students in defining the new curricula in the domain of ICT and electrical engineering, that stem from practical laboratory work sessions, where the students design and develop relatively complex circuits with low cost off the shelf equipment. Emphasis will be laid to the conceived measurement set-ups and the relation to metrology.

THE SIGNAL RELATION DIAGRAM AS A METROLOGICAL TOOL - ELEMENTS AND SYNTHESIS

Relations and correlations between signals are important issues in modelling and simulation practice, especially in the field of Metrology. As a formal and descriptive "language", the so-called signal relation diagram (SRD) represents relations graphically. It visualises relational structures and generally makes relations more transparent. Signal relation diagrams base on logical and mathematical phrasing. Just a few basic elements are necessary. A straightforward synthesis unites these elements in typical arrangements in a holistic and consistent way. They serve as basic elements and structures in varied fields of Metrology, for modelling, description, simulation, analysis, reconstruction, filtering, verification and so on. The key task is information, understanding and knowledge.

CAMERA CHARACTERISATION IN EDUCATION TRAINING ACCORDING TO THE EMVA 1288 STANDARD

The quality of image sensors and the implementation of them into camera systems is a key fact for image processing applications. Therefore the standard EMVA 1288 was developed by the European Machine Vision Association. The paper presents an approach for teaching the basics in camera characterisation according the EMVA 1288. The goal should be to give the students a tool and experience to make the right decision for their application. Therefore a practical course was developed.

ABOUT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A METROLOGICAL SYSTEM FOR THE BRAZILIAN SYNCHROTRON LIGHT LABORATORY

LNLS operates the only synchrotron light source in Latin America. There is an on-going project to develop the 4th generation light source Sirius, to be commissioned in 2018. This paper discusses some aspects about the creation of mechanical metrology teams to assist in the development of new components and measurement techniques for the new accelerator. The metrological system comprises the deployment of management policies and the definition and pursuit of a core competency set.

OCCUPATIONAL EDUCATION OF SPECIALISTS IN FIELD OF METROLOGY AND INSTRUMENTATIONS IN UKRAINE

The new legislation of Ukraine in the field of metrology and higher education from one side provides harmonization of national legislation with European standards and principles. From other – requires certain changes and adaptation for organization of education and competency evaluation of metrologists. The analysis of degree of adaptation of the existent system of occupational education in field of metrology is conducted taking into account a new legislation.

FORMATION AND METROLOGICAL TRAINING FOR INTERNAL EQUIPEMENT MANAGEMENT IN THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY (INTA)

INTA has established a Measurement Management System (SGM) to provide internal services calibration. The aim of this work is to develop the main aspects of the formation and training in Metrology. In the period 2005-2014, SGM has held 13 courses and 274 agents were formed, remaining 102 as authorized agents for calibrations. In 2014, 364 calibrations were done, costs were reduced and the interpretation of the calibrations results has improved, increasing the accuracy of the results given.

PHOTONIC MICRO SENSORS FOR MOBILE COLOR AND SPECTRAL CHARACTERIZATION OF COLORED LIQUIDS IN LABORATORIES AND IN FIELD

Aim of the paper is to show that the colorimetric characterization of optically clear colored liquids can be performed with so called dielectric-interference multi-spectral micro sensors in comparison to spectral sensors. Multi-spectral micro sensors and spectral sensors are differentiated by their spectral resolution, measurement speed, accuracy and cost. Multi-spectral micro sensors are less expensive. The paper describes how dielectric-interference multi-spectral micro sensors are calibrated with application specific calibration methods and conventional liquid color standards, methodically and theoretically. The paper proofs that and how dielectric-interference multi-spectral micro sensors can be applied with smartpads for the calculation of measurement results both in laboratory and in field. A given practical example is the application for the colorimetric characterization of petroleum oils and fuels and their colorimetric characterization by the Saybolt color scale.
